New bike looking between $700 & $1,100
looking for a new road bike.
Looking for something around 700-1100. I was looking at the cannondale r7 and the trek 1200. Any thoughts out these two or anyothers?
thanks for your help.

There are several Lemond bikes that can be had in that price range. I'd suggest you add them to your list for consideration.

The r700 and trek 1200 dont even come close to comparing look at the 1500, its much closer in spec. and still less than than the limit I think 1049 here in dallas. Compact or traditional geometry? A couple of compacts worth a ride would be the specialized allex elite and the giant ocr and tcr lines. Hope this helps.

At the low end of your price range I suggest a Specialized Allez with Tiagra/Sora componets (about $550 from my LBS in Florida).
I would then upgrade the wheels (better yet, buy it witout wheels for $100 less), and get Neuvation M28 Aeros (aroudn$275).
For about $75 less, you can get Supergo Korsos off the web. Its virtually an identical wheel.
Your whold package should come in under $750 excluding tax, it will have standout wheels, and give you years of reliable service.

i got a Cdale R700 earlier this month for $1200, and I love it. While shopping, I was comparing it to the Trek 1500 ($1000) and the Lemond Tourmalet ($1080). The Lemond looked pretty sweet but I wasn't able to test ride it cuz I couldn't find it in my size.

I love the Specialized Allez Sport, 2005. It is Tiagra/105 and you can probably get it in the high $700 to low $800 range. Very good looking ride, especially in the black color. It has quite a few upgrades over the Allez base model.

I agree on the Allez Sport, I bought a black one several weeks ago and have only managed about 50 miles on it so far, its been raining like mad up here in the PNW and I hate getting it all wet since its so new, but it is a beautiful riding bike. Now that its quit raining we've got 50 mph winds until the rain starts again next week - Yee Haw!!

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want alu frame/carbon fork, then pretty much anything mentioned already would be great. I have an Allez that's tons of fun to ride. But, if you can squeeze out even up to another $200 on the high end, you might want to look at Bianchi. I picked up a 2005 Eros, which has Campy Mirage components. It's steel w/ a carbon fork - admittedly less stiff than my Allez and a little heavier, but if you're not racing on it, who cares...the comfort factor is a significant plus. It's still responsive and lively, and the Campy stuff is, in my opinion, much smoother and more precise than the entry-level Shimano components.
While shopping, I rode a Giant OCR 2, Trek 1200, Allez Elite, Felt F70, and the Bianchi Eros. They're all nice bikes and were all fun to ride. Like I said, just depends on what you're looking for.
My two cents!
