Ride Report, wait, I have hands?
So I went out for a ride after school, just my normal loop. But since I've been riding since late August, I've been gloveless. Why? I'm a procrastinator extraordinaire.
Today's been the coldest, at around 40 degrees, but it's like 30 degree with the wind against you. I started out pretty well. I had a good groove today and could pedal circularly smoothly. Until I got to the halfway point, it was really really cold. My hands were freezing off. The way back it was like I had no hands at all.
I got some frostbite. I had to wash my hands with hot water for a few minutes when I got home. They got SO itchy, they still are now.
I really need gloves. I'm gonna get a pair of PIs tomorrow.
The autumn was really scenic around here now. I need to get a digi memory card to take some pics for you. Sorry, no pics.

btw dont spend your money on over priced PI stuff. Go to your outdorr store and by some liner gloves, or thicker. Know what, dont go to your outdoor store go to a place that sells gloves. BUt I like the outdoor stuff becasue its very good quality, not all of it though...

Take care of your digits. Without them, how will you be able to post threads here in BF?

lol.
I doubt you got any sort of frostbite...(You would not be typing right now...)
Just go to the LBS...You'll save more $$ driving around finding comparable gloves

www.google.com
enter "winter cycling gloves".
press return.
I'm just guessing that you're hands were very cold or maybe had the beginnings frost nip. If they were frost bitten and you did what you described, you'd have been wrything on the floor in pain and doubtfully typing anything, not to mentioning tying your shoes.
About the gloves, there are plenty of inexpensive ones that will work fine.

Keep on climbing
Outdoor store = REI. EMS. One of those types of places.
Take a tip from skiers: the absolutely best, no holds barred way to keep your hands / feet warm is to keep your head warm first. Your body will keep your head and chest warm with nice fresh oxygenated blood long past when it has essentially sacrificed everything else. If you can keep your head warm, that's that much more blood that your body has available to keep everything else warm.
While you're at REI / EMS buying glove liners, get yourself a balaclava as well. They fit between your helmet and your head. Makes all the difference in the world.

Your not supposed to use hot water to warm your hands. Since you may have lost feeling in your hands you can not tell how hot the water actually is. The water than can burn your skin and/or cause muscle damage. Best thing to do is let some else run the water for you or put them in your arm pits to warm them.

When you buy gloves also buy the thin glove liners like everyone says, but don't just buy any kind of liners, buy the thin SILK liners as they are far and away the best insulators.
