Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help buying a new bike

I think my last post about this got screwed up...lol
anyway i need help in deciding between giant OCR3 and '07 specialized allez triple, they are both low level bikes which is ok cause i am new to road bikes, they both seem to feel and ride the same except that the allez felt lighter and faster, the allez has a few better comp than the OCR3 and the allez is only a $100 more than the OCR3

what you guys think?
thx

Well, since they're not that much different, I recommend you pick which ever one you'd be happier to own.
Picture yourself on each bike, and whether you'd prefer being seen or seeing that bike than the other one.
However, depending on the components that are better, you may want to invest in the Allez. Of course, with $100 you could buy some cheap shorts, a helmet, and maybe some gloves.
Keep in mind that you'll want to keep a couple hundred extra to get gear (shoes, cleats, shorts, jerseys, helmet, gloves, bottles, etc.).

Yeah. At the ~$700 range stuff is really up to you. Get fit to both of them, test ride the hell out of them, and then make a decision. Good luck.

Buy the one that fits you better. The 2 bikes have somewhat different geometries and sizing.
