CAAD8/CAAD9 differences?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

CAAD8/CAAD9 differences?

I've looked on their website but they don't seem to do a good job explaining to me what the differences are between the CAAD8 and CAAD9 frames. Does anybody know?

I think the top tube/head tube junction is wider...some of the tubes are 'shaped' more to increase stiffness and allow some more comfort. The tubes are also 'side-butted' in that the tubes have different thicknesses on the sides compared to the tops and bottoms. This supposedly accomplishes the same goal of performance/comfort. I test rode a CAAD 9 and thought it was great.

So does that mean the CAAD9 is more compliant than the CAAD8? So confused.

I'm pretty sure the Caad9 is supposed to be stiffer.

IIRC, Caad8 has the rear end of a Six/13, Caad9 has the rear end of a SystemSix. Other than that I don't know what the differences are, although I'm sure there are some.

Taken directly from the Cannondale website when you click on their CAAD9 frames...

"NEW CAAD9 FRAME

The top tube of the new CAAD9 has a larger diameter at the head tube, while the down tube and seat tube are larger in the bottom bracket region. The result is greater torsional stiffness without a weight penalty."

Hmm. So the rear triangle hasn't been changed at all?

The stays haven't really changed but the seat tube is a larger dia to help resist BB flex. The CAAD9 is aactaully supposed to be a tad lighter but not a whole heck of a lot lighter.

From what I remember reading on WW, the seatstays on the CAAD9 are supposed to be set a little further apart where they join the seat tube than the CAAD8. And as 'Chopper said, they've gone to a larger diameter, butted seat tube.
