Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Off season is easy, but in the summer is terrible, too many tourists and they are too busy looking at the scenery to pay attention. that area is one known to hit a substancial amount of cyclists every year. i myself do my riding at 6 in the morning before traffic hits and I encounter a lot of other cyclists who start off this early.

Anyway, thanks everyone for all your kind words! it was neat to share my little peice of heaven, the winters can be brutal up here but this makes it all worth it!

I knew that was Rye NH as soon as I saw those pics. I think thats right around Dan Brown's (DiVinci Code guy) house no? Anyway, I am from Pittsburgh PA just relocated from Newburyport, MA and I miss, miss, miss my weekend ride from MA to Maine. It seriously makes me want to cry I miss it so bad. I also highly recommend 127 from Salem up the coast. Awesome ride as well.

I miss it badly and Sunday Reggae on the deck at Saunders too of course!

Very nice, BDG. And all the others who shared pics, too. It's kind of cruel to be posting such nice pics when some of us are stuck at work, though.

I live North of Boston and would love to do some riding up the coast. One of the CRW centuries goes up there... Maybe this year will be the year to go up.

Peace
Eric

We do a ride every year down there mostly so we can go to the Goldenrod after.
It's like stepping back in time, the lime rickeys are good too.

Do you actually do training rides using your aero bars down that narrow little path?

You are one lucky girl, BDG! To have that kind of view within 1 mile of your home is just amazing! Me, I get I-395 and, within 5 miles I-495!

Yes it is. When I lived in CT, my parents started taking us to Maine for vacations (they have been renting a cabin on Lake Sebago for over 30 years) and Boothbay was a must visit location. Not only is the taffy excellent, but Browns Wharf serves up lobster, clams and scallops right off the boat. Cant beat that anywhere!

Yeah, it was about 75F in Southeastern, MA that day. Love riding in the area because of the numerous routes to choose from.
