It is worth a little bit more now. I went and upgraded most of it other than the frame. (5800 105, ultegra 6800 wheels, tires, bar tape, stem, seat post, saddle, computer, etc)

That's a great looking bike! Just replacing the rear tire with a black rubber would have been an improvement.

This is what I ride the most now, so I sold my plastic bike.

So far I narrowed down my first road bike to either a 2015 Specialized Allez, or Allez Sport. Can't wait to put it through it's paces, at the park, and do some long distance riding.

First post! I thought it would be fitting to do it here.
Bought just the frame and just recently finished the build.

Here's my 2007 Lemond Etape. I bought it used with mismatching wheels (Alex AT450 front, Sun CR18 rear) but just recently upgraded the wheels to these Mavic Aksium and it feels like a whole 'nother bike. The bar tape was also pretty worn so I replaced it with Zipp CX service course tape over fizik gel pads.

Just picked this up Saturday. Logged 28.5 miles on it today, and can't wait to get more time on the road. 2014 Cannondale Synapse 6 Tiagra C. Tweaking the fit as I go, and getting a few accessories for it this week. Hoping to get a century ride in by this time next year. This summer I'm already looking into some 30-80 mile rides.

Hi, I was curious about how/where you had this painted? And how its held up. Also, how much it cost as well if you don't mind. Was it a matte color frame to begin or was it stripped down bare and completely repainted? Thanks.

I posted this at the end of a long "building out my new custom bike" thread but figured I'd re-post here just for the heck of it...
Seven Axiom SL with Campy Chorus, HED Ardennes, and Thomson seatpost / stem.

First road bike since childhood. Been on mountain bikes since I gave up mx at 27 years old (thanks knees) and with all of the flooding in tx, my favorite trails are done for months at least and I can't go without pedal therapy so I joined the Lycra crowd hahaha. Turns out I love it.

It's a Roubaix 1.0 from performance, I couldn't find anything else with a 105 group set for anywhere close to the price. This one has garbage brakes (they aren't that bad but having gotten used to Deore brakes and 180/160 rotors they are) so I'll probably upgrade them. I'll pedal it for about 5000 miles or so and if I still love pavement I'm going to a carbon bike. Tx back roads are asphalt covered in gravel and at 25-30 miles the vibration starts to get a little beyond annoying.

Full custom 650b allroad randonneur in the tradition on Rene Herse and Alex Singer. Frame design was a collaboration with the builder, Fitz Cycles. Components are by Compass, SRAM, TA, Nitto, Burthound, Edilux, Son, Phill Wood, SKF. I have owned many skinny tired racing style road bikes over the years and none were faster, but comfort is lightyears ahead. When someone comments on the fat "slow" tires, I simply smile; if only the knew...

spend a couple hundred and find a used carbon handlebar and seatpost.... they'll help a lot

Purchased my 2015 Giant Defy 1 over the weekend as they were already clearing out room for the 2016 models.

Here are a couple of pics of my modest road bike. It's a 2004 Raleigh Supercourse fitted with 105 9-speed components from the era. I did swap out the saddle and buy new wheels (105 hubs and Mavic rims) for it, but otherwise it's bone stock. The frame size is 56 cm, which seems just a touch big. I'm 5' 9" tall.

I like a tight cluster. This is a Shimano 105 13-23t cassette.
http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_4125.jpg

This is the most comfortable saddle I've ever owned.

Here's my Focus Cayo 4.0 (Force22). Got it for reaching a distance and weight goal I had set for myself, and it's my first proper road bike that goes along with my otherwise super trusty cross bike. I love it! As the above poster talked about, Texas's road are covered in a stupid gravelly asphalt (that cars eventually pound smooth.... but not so much on the shoulders/bike lanes), but the bike does an admirable job smoothing it out while still feeling connected.

Seven bikes are one of my dream bikes. Very nice.
