Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New member, 2nd post!

Here is my Klein Quantum road bike. Bought it new as a frameset before Klein was building complete bikes. I think it is one of the last series Gary actually touched, I have an email into Trek Support to see if I can find out anything else. They said so far that their records do not go that far back. I bought it sometime between 1986-87. I have sent them several pictures to help identify this bike.

It looks to be a Quantum Elite, from 1988-89.

Long time reader, first time poster.

Here are my two bikes which includes my brand new Litespeed Tuscany that hasn't been out for its virgin ride yet.

My first bike: Giant 2005 TCR Composite 2 all Ultegra and I changed out bar and saddle. I ruined the stock bar with Aztec Bar-Wrap. (Don't get it) So the bar is now Easton EC90 Equippe and the saddle is Specialized Avatar.

Then my new love my new baby which is still awaiting delivery for its pedals. I still have to cut the steering tube at the top.

Those are two really nice rides you have there hellon2wheels. How do you choose which one to ride? Seeing those makes me wish I had more disposable income.

LOL. My actual first bike was a used 2004 Specialized Allez which didn't quite fit me. So I sold that on craigslist and saved up for the Giant. I love the Giant albeit a wheel upgrade is imminent. At this time, that is my only bike I can pick to ride on since the Tuscany doesn't have any pedals yet.

I wasn't really in the market for 2nd bike, but Colorado Cyclist was clearning out their 2005 frame sets and the Tuscany was being offered for $1100 off normal price to make room for 2006 models. I could not pass it up as I wanted something alternative to carbon's ride characteristics. So I hunkered down and unloaded for Tuscany as it is a bike that will last with me lifetime. Once the pedals come next week, I will take it for a virgin spin. I can not wait.

PEZ just did a write up on JK (actually the K Team Carbon like mine) @ https://www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=fullstory&id=3575.[/QUOTE]

The PEZ article raised my interest in Jack Kane (though you have to read all their reviews with a salt shaker close at hand). However, I noted some striking similarlities between the Jack Kane bikes and Leader frames, down to some of the same "proprietary" materials. Does Leader make the frames for Jack Kane, after which he paints them?

New to road riding in 2005, so I'm starting simple. 2004 Devinci Chicane. Sora/Tiagra. Overall, I'm smitten. The wheels (Alex DA22) will be the first upgrade-they go out of true if you look at them funny!

That's the plan. This past summer, I did my riding solo, hitting the Gatineau Park when I could on the weekends (love those hills). For 2006, I'm looking forward to a) broadening my horizons, and b) the added motivation of weekly organized rides!
