Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I currentl ride an 05 iron Horse Triumph, I just put a deposit on an NEW 2005 Orbea Volata at the local LBS. Originally bike listed for 1,350 was able to get it for 1,000. Not sure it was the best deal out there but it fits me great and rides nice. Unfortunatly it has the Campy Mirage 9sp on it. I will change that soon.

Picture is from my cell phone

Hey guys, just joined not too long ago so I thought I'd post mine in here. Technically my dad's bike although he never uses it anymore, so I've been putting it to good use this summer. Just got it back from a tune-up, new tires and new handlebar wrapping yesterday. My guess is it's either an '82 or '83. Specialized Allez SE

Just picked up my new bike today and took it for a quick 13 mile ride.

2007 Cannondale Synapse 2

Sure beats the Schwinn "bike in a box" MTB I was riding! Night and Day... WOW!

Yeah, I only had half a day, so I did twenty miles out from Dickey Ridge and back. I would have liked to have taken my time and done the whole thing, with someone to pick me up on the other end.

I just parked the car in sperryville and rode 211 up to the drive and then rode to the highest point and back. it was 35 miles or something like that. its a fun climb just to make it to skyline drive. what a great place.

Technically a track bike, not a road bike, but I have it fitted with a lot of road components to make it street-worthy. I've been considering getting some hoods and having the seatstay bridge drilled out to install the rear brake. As it is though I'm actually pretty happy with the Salsa bars and no hoods, I can still get a great climbing position.

The rear fender is jacked up in the photo. Sorry, laziness.

Here are some updates of my bike after 4 months.

Changed the wheelset, bar, stem, seat post and saddle. Also added bottle cages and computer.

Thanks!

It's definitely a bit much for a city bike but it's a LOT of fun (if you haven't tried fixed gear, maybe you shouldn't, because it's ADDICTING). I also have a cheap little Nishiki with full fenders and a Sora groupset that I use as my rain/snow bike. Ironically, my road bike cost less than 1/4 what I've spent on my track bike. It's usually supposed to be the other way around.
