Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

This is my late '80's Raleigh Technium. I bought the frame new and built it up. I've learned alot from this bike and it's changed over the years. It weighs in at 19 lb.

Seatpost clamp has been replaced with a red Salsa one).
Frame is manufactured by ADK, you can get it direct or under other brand names. Fuji is just one of them, their stays required different mold from what a rep told me. I prefer non-branded, direct at cost framesets; it's good to have friends in Taiwan.

Thanks. I mainly do long rides on the weekends (60 miles +) so I have it step up for comfort. I could lower the seat a little to get more aggresive, but being that I weight b/w 215-220 I only get in the drops on downhills...and I kill the downhills...

Here is the latest iteration of this bike, a frame and all the components later.

1998 Lemond Zurich, Reynolds 853, Xero XR1 wheels (about to die), Record Brifters, Chorus BB/Crankset/RD, and down from there, Keo Sprints, Tange Sealed Cartridge Headset (they only had colors ).

I see a lot of pictures with missing valve caps. Am I the only sick rider that can't leave the house without it or there are more like me out there?

No, there are definitely more freaky people out there who absolutely HAVE to have a valve cap on each wheel. Most of them believe that the cap keeps the air in the tire. We keep a big can full of them for such people.

I think it's a valid thing to be concerned about (not the air getting out, but the valve bending for whatever reason, small rocks hitting the valve at high velocity would do it).

I don't like going out with missing valve caps, but it's not a necessity by any means
