Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

With the valve closed that would be impossible.

There's really no reason to have valve caps on Presta valves. Schrader valves need them because dirt can keep them from working. Presta valves are kind of self cleaning, they have no need for valve caps.

Here's my bike #10

Scott Little of Kitchener has been riding a bicycle since he was six, which would make that about 40-something years of cycling.

His current bike is a Kuwahara Fastlane 150 that he has had for six years, and uses for errands around town and up to St. Jacobs.

"I just enjoy being able to bike around. I travel with the bike . . . I've biked in Costa Rica and Jamaica. When I go camping, I throw the bike in the back of the truck.

Lemond 853 steel

Here is my road bike. I have been riding it since buying it new in 2002. I upgraded the seat to an Alias 143, best thing I ever did, and replaced the seatpost, stem and bars to get it dialed in for me. I've done centuries on the bike in comfort. I love the ride of steel. No problems with the wheels. I turned a spoke a quarter of a turn once due to a good hit in a street cover without enough air in the tires. Overall, I've been very happy with this bike.

Just finished this budget build for my wife or my son (they are still fighting over it). It is a 2003 Schwinn Fastback Comp frame, Columbus Link fork, Tiagra brakes and RD, 105 FD, and other assorted pieces I had laying around. I still need to find a set of STI's at a good price to put on it. I think these frames are underrated. The frame itself was only about 2.5 lbs and very stiff. It's a pretty nice ride..

I have a CAAD9 Silver Optimo2 with altered parts. Replaced the crankset with ultegra BB and R600 compact rings, now using SRAM 11-27 rear cassette, ITM wing handlebar, gel bartape, generic carbon seatpost (really tames the frame), Selle Italia saddle, and Soul 3.0 Wheelset with 25c Vitoriox(sp?)tires. Actually looks ugly since nothing is really color coordinated, but oh boy, it fits me like a racing glove!

Sorry, having problems downloading pic.

^^That CAAD 8 would look better with black hoods; I don't think the white hoods work well with it.

The yellow ones come on Conti tubes. We probably do have some, if I haven't stolen all of them myself. Red...I think we have maybe 4 or so. Most are generic black. Oh, and some flashing alien heads. Gotta have those....

Do you mean to tell me that I can have little green men poking out of my rims?

I... I think I would actually use valve caps like that.

I purchased a 53cm 2007 Jamis Eclipse frameset recently and used the bulk of the parts from my Pedal Force RS. 17lbs. Climbs like carbon, rides like steel. Still deciding on the stack height since this has a 1cm longer top tube than my Fuso.

White hoods went back to black. The white ones were impossible to keep clean! Black looks better anyway.
