Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yay! A real bike!
Get a little burned out with the carbon copies...

A Master X-Light is on my list for purchase and build-up this season.

It's a steel invasion!

Not as nice as the Colnago, but here is my 78 Raleigh Professional:

Thinking of a Master X Light or Cinelli Supercorsa as my next build.
What stem is that?

It's a 3T mutant (26.0mm - usually can be found on ebay).

I'm probably violating a BF rule by replying to my own post, but I wanted to post my thoughts on this bike after 128 miles.

This bike goes like a bat out of hell. It's stiff but not jarring, light but not flexy. I can't wait to race this beautiful machine.

Her name is Il Brutto Paracarra. Since Serotta decals are harder to find than a wh0re in church, I'm going to get her repainted down the road and have some decals made.
The threaded steel fork I had was just too short for the headtube, so I'll have to put my good Alpha Q in there since I have no cash.
It sucks too, because I jsut repainted my fork for this frame.

Specialized Allez Triple
Almost full Tiagra
Colorado Cyclist Ultegra rear wheel
BMX Pedals lol
The rear wheel and Sora shifters were the only things I felt needed improvement. Word to anyone searching and thinking of buying this bike: tell the seller to make triple sure about the terrible rear wheel.

I bought this bike a year ago when I knew nothing about bikes, it was what was recommended to me based on budget, purpose and geometry. First group ride I went out on, I was told to upgrade several things, and learned nothing about riding except drafting, and no one even bothered to learn my name.
I lost 50 or so pounds last summer, found cooler people to join on rides, and learned that you're gonna have more fun if you love the one you're with. Today I went on a 30+ mile Kingfisher photo hunting trip instead of staring out at nothing but a road to both sides, and a doofus with more money than a sense of humor and self-worth in the front.
But whatever. If you're in the Texas Panhandle hit me up. I like to have fun and am down for just about anything.

I bought this Specialized Allez base model last year and over time it went through a small transformation. Drivetrain is composed of Sram Force with '09 Rival rear derailleur, and Shimano Ultegra chain. Wheels are the Neuvation R28 Aero4 minus the stickers. Love riding it!
