Wheel Sets: Shimano WH-6600 or Mavic Aksium?
Hi all,
Looking for wheelsets for my bike.my weight is about 220lbs. cannot decide between the WH-6600 or the Aksium.. Is it really worthwhile to pay the xtra money for the WH-6600? or i shld get the Aksium and spend the xtra money else where? thank you |
Do a search on Shimano wheels on the forum
(here's a hint: THEY SUCK!) |
and of course you know how the 6600 performs huh brian.

Get the Aksium's. You are no light weight and the 6600 wheels have minimum spokes - not the best unless you are looking for race wheels.

What about the Ultegra hub / Open Pros from Performance? $200 for the set. http://www.performancebike.com/shop/...TOKEN=24277708

I am 230lbs and just picked up a set of Mavic cxp 33's with shimano 6600 hubs. I am very pleased so far. They are a touch heavier than the alx 330's that came with the bike but they seem to role better and they are definately stronger. When I would get up out of my seat for hills I could feel and hear the 330's flex. The cxp's don't mind the stress at all. They are minorly heavier that the open pros but more areo and a few dollars cheaper.
