Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lemond Sizing?

I'm looking at a used 57cm Lemond but was curious about sizing. I had read somewhere that you should go down a size in Lemond, is this true?

Previously, I've ridden a 56cm Felt, 57cm new Bianchi, 56cm old Bianchi. Would it be pretty close?

You'd likely need a 55cm LeMond...

Go by the top tube length. Of the bikes you mentioned, the 55cm is the closest...

Thanks for your response. Which of the bikes that I listed were you basing that response on?

LeMonds are measured C-C, so they will be a little bigger than frames that are measured C-T and much bigger than frames measured to the top of the seat tube (like Trek). LeMonds also tend to have slacker seat tube angles and longer top tubes, so you really should take some test rides to see what size works best for you. Some people do prefer smaller frames with longer top tubes.

Thanks Johnny.

It's used so I've only got one size to try, but I'll give it a go and see what happens. If it doesn't fit when I get there then I've only wasted a few dollars of gas.

I had a 57 Bianchi for a race bike a few years ago. It had a 56 top tube. 55cm Lemonds have a 56.5 top tube.
