I use 409 on a cloth. Makes the tires black again (gets rid of embedded dirt) and they feel nice and rubbery (ie: sticky) afterwards...

FYI: Posting anything, in ANY forum, opens you to criticism; ridicule; and rage. Thats why forums are so fun!

Just a quick wipe down with a wet rag to check if there's any embedded glass and that's it. Ready for the next ride.

What exactly are you trying to clean off your tires after every ride? Are they greasy? I can ride for months and pick up only a hint of dust.
However, when I cleaned them in the train station in London before I flew to Canada (you've got to clean your tires before you fly to another country), I used a couple baby wipes. That was enough to satisfy customs.

I wipe them off with the wet kitchen rag and then throw it in the laundry (before my wife finds out) then the bike gets stored in the living room for me to stare at (its my first road bike and its new!). I only clean them so I don't ruin the carpet.

I don't regularly clean my tires but I will if I notice any cuts or nicks in the rubber thread. I then use rubbing alcohol and a dull toothpick to clean out the cuts and fill them in with a rubber glue-like substance. Allow 24 hrs for it to cure (that's why it's nice to have 2 wheelsets/bike).

I wash my wheels once a week, and after every rainy ride. I remove them from the bike and I use dish soap in a bucket and a plastic brush. If I don't, my hands get really dirty when I have to fix a flat. I think it keeps the brake pads from wearing as fast, too.

I don't think I've ever cleaned my tires.
I'd just use a rag with a little soap and water if you feel the need though.

I ride fast enough that friction burns any impurities off the surface of my tires. No additional cleaning necessary.
Sorry if somebody else already mentioned that. I haven't read all the posts.

I ride on Continental “Competition” Tubulars and I clean them like I clean my golf club grips. I use 25 grit sandpaper and rub them down really hard insuring I go around at least 10 times. Besides removing any glass or goat heads that may have stuck to my tires it smoothes out all the flat spots that I might have made skidding to a stop, or power sliding “Tokyo Drift style” in front of my local Starbucks.
