Update on performance rollers
so as many of you may know i recently purchased some performance travel trac rollers. There was one problem upon unpacking them, one of hte feet were missing, no prob, i put some books under it. When i went to fold them up, they didn't quite align well. I brought it back into the store and without any questions or inspection i was given a new set. GREAT SERVICE FROM PERFORMANCE!!!!! but that's nothing new right?
Anyways, onto the training. I am new to cycling and thought it would help me smooth out my pedal strokes and help my balance; it most definitely has. I've been using them for 3 weeks now, 5 days a week approx 30-60mins a day.
First day i was bouncing off the walls, good idea i put it in a narrow hallway and wore a helmet!
After about 3 tries i could stay on the rollers with the upmost concentration, still wobbling around.
Now about 3 weeks down the line i can hold a strait line with enough concentration and i find that i sweat quite a bit more than during normal riding, perhaps it's because i am not used to concentrating so much to make circles and using different muscles. I'm running about 90rpms on the rollers using various gears.
I've enjoyed these rollers a lot and would definitely recommend them, especially with a coupon special.
Anyways, thats just a brief update of how my roller training has been going.

Good update. My story is really similar, but I have the Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers. Pretty much the same price range as the travel trac ones, because I almost got those ones too. I'm a newbie, and i've really enjoyed them. I don't think that everyone needs Kreitler rollers, even though most people on BF would like you to think so. I've really enjoyed mine. Really solid. Really quiet.
Good work though. I haven't been nearly as regular in my roller training as you. I think you've motivated me to get on them more often. Thanks.

I would contend that "GREAT SERVICE FROM PERFORMANCE!!!" shouldn't require you returning to the store because they left a part out. I call conspiracy to get you back in the door. If you impulse bought anything on that second trip, they got you good.
congrats on the rollers, though. sounds like you're on the right track!

i think the sweat has something to do with not having any breeze, but maybe that's me.

sancocho- true, i would not consider it above and beyond, but the fact that they did not even look inside the box to check them out before exchanging them and that they immediately got me a new set, no questions asked, didn't need to sign anything suprised me. and YES, i have gone back to buy more
kudude- i have a 24" box fan infront of me when i ride as well as leaving the door next to me open and windows open to keep the cool winter air circulating.
chunkyB - glad i to hear i could help someone out!!!
Anyways, the training has been going very well, i have gone outside and road a bit i can definately see a difference in my cadence.
I forgot to mention this earlier, as many of you have recommended, i took some air out of the tires to add some resistance, works very well. And also, family guy is a life saver while riding these, it's nice having a small 20" tv i can just pickup and move around. The rollers are quiet and watching tv is a breeze. Make sure you put a towel on your top tube so you dont get sweat all over it, i still ride with my helmet on just as a precaution, i'm not paolo bettini yet
