Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What can this do that a $10 floor or frame pump can't? Other than cost $60, anyway.

Read the reviews. Hilarious.

You can use it to pump your car tires too. I've tried to pump my car tires with a regular floor pump before and it's a pain in the a--. I'm assuming you can use it to pump up inflatable pools. I had to inflate my daughter's inflatable pool the other weekend and I just about passed out (it's really large). If you buy it to use only on your bikes, that's kind of lazy. But it has a lot of other legitimate applications as well.

However, I do agree with the first half of your premise. People are stupid.

Yes, but does your $10 pump have a light on it that points in the direction you're inflating?!?

I didn't think so, chump.

Indeed. If it encouraged someone to be better about keeping their car tires inflated, it would pay for itself very quickly.

We can take it with us when we go biking.
...
You don't have to run an air hose 100 feet to get the job done.
...
I purchased this product because I am not strong enough to pump my bicycle with regular pumps.
These people are stupid and I am smarter than they are.

I can see some limited applications for this device. Not in my garage, though.

Well, apparently some people take it with them "when we[they] go biking"

If I ever see this in someone's back pocket while on a group ride... ummmm...

I've had one for years. My nice $40 pump collects dust because of this thing.

I have something similar - an electric pump I can plug into the car outlet. Cost me $30. Needless to say, I don't use it on my bike tires but it more than paid for itself when I had that super slow leak in the car tire I was too lazy to get fixed.

- a 15-inch extension on the OP's product page does NOT make it easier to inflate a bike tire.. in fact, the performance hurricane essential tire pump sucks big time (typical junk from that company), and i only enjoy use of my $25 specialized pump to inflate tires when the bike is hoisted up on my truck...

p.s. brookstone is for idiots...

+1 I have one in my car and put it to good use when I had a slow leak and not enough time to fix it, but it cost something like $20-30 from Home Depot, so this thing for $60 doesn't impress me, even if it is "cordless".

I use mine every spring when I pump up my tires. I think I have a slow leak though 'cause they always go flat after 4-5 months.

Also, my bid on this thread so far is $14
