crankbrothers pedals tightness
crankbrothers pedals release tightness is not adjustable, is that correct? How tight is it?
I usually set my pedals (Look or SPD) to 1 click away from the lowest.

It is about 1/2 the tension of the lowest setting on a set of SPD SL. The release is pretty much dependent on angle not tension.

It's easy to get out when you want to, but I've never pulled out accidentally, unlike SPDs

Definitely easier than any Look pedal I've ever used. The basic eggbeater style is easiest in my opinion - and I usually ride Crank Bros. The road pedals aren't any tighter, but the extra shoe contact seems to make it just slightly tougher, since you are turning against resistance a bit against the sole of your shoe as well as the spring.

MTB shoes work fine. I use them on my road bike. No need for 2 pairs of wicked expensive shoes.

I am planning on getting the Quatros. I haven't had much experiance with them, but I wanted a little more sole contact then just the egg beaters.

If the shoe is tight to the pedal you can make it easier to get out by placing a shim under the cleat.

I find the Quattros very comfortable but it took a bit of getting used to b/c there is not a definitive "click" when locking onto the cleat.

Tho if it's already easy enough to get out, the shim will make it too "floaty," ( as I found out when I put them on unnecessarily)

I have the Candy C pedals and I have to say that they are very easy to get in and out of. Almost as easy as my Speedplay Zeros. The tension has not been a problem with the Candy C as far as I can tell and I have not been able to pull out of them accidentally.

I'm actually getting the shims for my SPDs just to protect the carbon soles. They were getting beat up with the last pair I had.

I think the release angle can be changed by swapping the cleats from one sho to the other.

Grinderbob : I do not think you can adjust the release tension for the CB pedals. Most new CB pedals tend to feel a little tight when clipping into them, but will loosen up after a couple weeks of use. Then once they have loosened up you’ll find it a lot easier to clip in and out of them.

Crankbrothers Pedal Release Pressure
You are correct, they are not adjustable. I have been using the 4 ti on road, and the SL's in dirt for years. They are the best pedal for entry and exist-- period. They are bomb proof, pretty much maintenance free, and rebuildable. Try them, you will like them.............
