Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just finished rebuilding this to fit my wife, she has 40cm bars and cross brakes and platform pedals and likes to sit more upright on the bike

Thats the day I pulled it out of the box. 14" of snow and -5. I tried to ride it around the shop. Potential is going to have to be good enough. Only change I'm doing is the seat and seatpost position.

The frame actually has the pink t-mobile bands, this latest photo shows it better,

It has 9000 brakes, FD and compact cranks, RD and shifters are 7900, the wheelsets she uses are RZR's and the C35's for wet days

Nice bike for your wife, certainly much nicer than my wife's bike, and not to be rude, but not hot for the purposes of this thread.

Other than the pedals, & the cross brakes, I dont see any other flaws IMO.
Theres many other bike that are considered hot that have more demerits than this one.

I gave him a break on those 2 cause its his wifes bike.
When a members wifes bike in nicer than mine, I have no other choice but to give it a hot.

In case no one pointed it out, this is a silly aesthetic thread.

There's nothing wrong with cross brakes, on a cross bike or cross ride. But, they're not hot on a road racing bike. Nor is a stack of spacers, a stem flipped positive or platform pedals.

Not hot.

It would get lot's of love in the C&V community. But, within this thread, not hot.

Ah ha! So aesthetically they're "allowed," on gravel grinder/ cross bikes....

Is there an aesthetic codex defined for the purpose of this thread yet?

They become sort of "novelty" really quick.
I used them for all of 1 week/3 days before I was comfortable enough with the brifters when I was a noob coming off a MTB.

They're there for a sense of confidence, when commuting,or in traffic.
I installed a pair for my uncle whos coiming off a hybrid, its more familiar feeling.

I think it was you who recommended them to me for a more heads up position in city traffic...a worthy consideration.

It a team livery/team edition. Same as my Major Jake CXer.
(No cross lever/interuptors)

Probably was me, once you get used to the brifters, you learn to love the hoods.
Some love the cross brakes, for me they don't get much love on my bikes
They're great when I take my CXer to the trails, & it gets really twisty, tight, & technical.
Some people have a hard time dialing them in to get the right modulation, I can tune them to be as powerful as my brifters.
Thats where my MTB skills come it handy.

The Rules were just linked to a page or two ago: https://www.velominati.com/the-rules/

Basically extract the equipment specific from the above and you have a good starting point.
