Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mine is the familiar sound of metal hitting pavement when riders go down. If I'm on the sidelines, it gives me whiplash worse than a head-on car accident.
That would be pcad breathing heavy mentioning chest pain and begging me to slow down.

hey I like that sound, especially if it's my phone, gives me an excuse to get the group to go faster as I start to chat with my GF and then tell her I have to go since I'm pulling next and that i'll call her back in 2 minutes.

most unpleasant noise by far is a very loud freehub, followed by the sound of a flat after you just changed the tube.

Sounds like you're running too low of a spoke count. If I hear that, it means I will have 31 left to hold me up after I twist the broken one around another to stay out of the way.

As for the cell phone, sorry, I keep my ringer on in case there is a family emergency. I only answer it if I hear my wife's ring twice in a minute's time. Any other callers are just ignored, but nobody seems to mind because that ring is Bicycle Race by Queen

The sound my chain makes CONSTANTLY rubbing on my front derailer because the LBS swapped out my standard crank with a compact crank but failed to make any other adjustments...

That reminds me: Call LBS in the morning

Haven't found one on my road bike yet, but my least favorite on my mountain rig has always been the kinda crunch of chain suck.

A "Tink" sound like a piece of something from your bike just worked its way loose and hit the ground. Ends up being a piece of gravel getting kicked up against the main sprocket.

The sound of some legend-in-his/her-own-mind passing without a heads-up or a hello, frequently to be encountered a short distance up the road, stopped to appreciate the view or to make some contrived adjustment.

Thank goodness for that! I thought I was alone in hearing the voices of Messrs. Liggett and Sherwen when I'm out on my bike!

Still, if I hear another car horn aimed in my direction, I may not be responsible for my actions... Grrrr...
