Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sorry for the mixup. Saw the exact same bike (same wheels, size, and 11-spd Record gruppo) for sale on WW (from Aus). Sweet bike, I have a black one from '06 with new Reynolds recently added. Enjoy!

yeah i did have it for sale on WW. With the Record 11 and Neutron Ultra's.

I didn't really get any real interest on it and needed some money so I thought i'd sell what would be easy to sell - the Neutron Ultra wheels and the Record 11 group.

I didn't / don't want to sell the frame but got in a bit of a panic when some huge medical bills came through - and my thumb drama's decided no Campy for me...

So far - all I can say is it feels very smooth - much smoother than my previous bikes a Cervelo and an S-works Tarmac. It feels like a better 'all day' bike- if you know what i mean. Still very stiff at the bbkt though.

Oh, so that was you! I remember you offered the Edge wheelset (or maybe those just stood out) as an option. Hope everything worked out well healthwise.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I know what you mean. I only had the opportunity to ride a Pro Machine around in a parking lot and it initially felt very stiff vertically through the back end of the bike. The guy who owned it said that he had the same first impression but that after riding it a while he said it seemed comfortable enough for a 100 mile ride.

I could have gotten a 2007 model with an Astana paint job for dealer cost but I couldn't justify it at the time (this past Spring). If I come across the same deal this coming Spring I may not be able to resist.

Cleave

I had a 2007 frame which was replaced with a 2008 frame (warranty issue). I trasfered all of the existing components to the 2008 frame. To my suprise I found the 2008 frame far smoother. BMC claim very little in the way of redesign between the 2 years. There was some minor adjustment to the bottom bracket. Whatever it was, there was a noticable difference in comfort.

I have done 5-6 centuries on the two bikes and it's been fine.

It's not as plush as my old Trek 5200.

Very nice bike. I love the styling of those and drool over them at my LBS. I may be getting a BMC as an off-roader next year.

Ha!

NB - I'm serious though - that's what it is!

I havn't weighed it - but knowing what a couple of other bikes weigh, my LBS and I think it would be 5.9kg or 6.0kg -with the Tubs on it. They are only 1080g!
