Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My new Pro Machine

Just thought i'd post up pics of my new toy! I've wanted a Pro Machine for ages and now I finally have it!

Build list is:

BMC Pro Machine 51
Ec90 SLX fork
Ec90 Stem/post
Ec90 SLX3 Bar
Sram Red
Edge 1.38 clinchers with DT240's - although these are tubs - waiting for the clinchers to be built..
Toupe 143
Speedplay Zero's - Stainless
Stronglight Rings on the cranks
Tune Cages
Parlee FD Clamp
Bold Ti Skewers

I had Record 11 on it - but swapped over to Red and kept the change... I'm waiting on a cassette for the Lightweight's so cant ride em at the moment

Thanks for looking!

Wow...gorgeous build. Perhaps round out the build with the Edge bars and seatpost, whenever it becomes available?

Other than choosing the flexy SLX fork over the sturdy SL I can't really second guess anything. Nice.

i thought EC90 SLX3 bar was the one with shallow bend.

Thanks guys!

Phallenthoul,
This is the short/shallow bar - although granted...it doesn't really look like it.

Dick Rhee,
I'm actually thinking of adding: Edge Bars/Post and Edge 1.0 fork - they don't do stems...yet...

it actually looks like a Syntace Racelite to me..
but whatever. Edge bar and fork will be nice upgrades over the current build.

Gorgeous!

I may be biased...

I "decided" on Ultegra SL rather than Super Record and ESs instead of Lightweights

Your bike deserves a big picture:

Very nice bike, but I am a little lost as to what is on it now and why any of it was changed. You have a picture with Record 11 and lightweights on it. That to me is the ultimate build. Then you also have it with SRAM Red, which I guess is what it has now? On the wheels, you showed the lightweights with a cassette on it, but the other pictures have the Edge 1.38 tubulars, but you also have a clincher set coming and now don't have a cassette for the lightweights? I am a bit confused. Could you clarify?

If you're feeling generous, I will take the Record 11 group off your hands. Thanks.

I'm guessing that the guy has a Shimano freehub body on order for his Lightweights, so he can use it with the Red grouppo.

Did you take advantage of the Australian exchange rate?

Considered buying the very same bike.

Hey Guys,

Ok to clarify...

Now have Sram Red on my bike...sold Record 11 and kept the $$ difference - I have a bad thumb(broke in 6 places a while back) and thought I could use record, but it just didn't work out

I will have my edge 1.38 clinchers by the end of this week. The Tubs are a shop demo set to use until they are built.

The LW are waiting on a cassette body and cassette. Then they are ready to rock and roll.

Thanks for the nice comments!

No mate - I'm an aussie, and bought everything except the bars/stem/post in Melbourne.

Hi,

Very nice! Looks like a great race rig.

I am trying to rationalize getting one -- a 51 cm in fact. Unfortunately, there's nothing wrong with my Look (yet ).

I heard some conflicting reports about ride quality: too harsh vs. pretty nice. What are your impressions so far?
