Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And of course got it dirty within about 4 hours...

It's going on my helmet. Not as bright as my Dinotte 200L, but it weighs about 45g less than the Dinotte's battery pack.

Vented VR28 Blue Iridium Lenses for my Jawbones. They are a contrast lens (rose/amber) that are a little darker than my Persimmons, which, during sun & clouds tend to not knock off enough light/glare...especially during these winter months when the sun seems to always be low in the sky and in my eyes.

Then in a moment of weakness, I pulled the trigger on Speedplay Zero Titaniums in black. Team/Group discount made them too attractive to resist.

Nothing exotic to look at...but pic included none-the-less.

Finally ordered my Quarq S975 yesterday, along with some new bottle cages (Tacx Tao) and some miscellaneous tools/lubricants. Can't wait for the Quarq to get here, then the real self-loathing can begin.

I just picked up a set of brand new 2010 SRAM Force brakes for $89 shipped. A good deal IMO (was close to getting them for $10 though...).

Very nice. Great price and you'll enjoy it. (Now all you need is a Quarq :-) )

Just got the FedEx package tonight. Can really tell much from the picture, but it's my new Focus Cayo. I'll post pics when I get it all put together. but not tonight because I have a final exam in Histology tomorrow.

Oh -- BMC fanboy jersey at CC while they were 50% off two nights ago. I didn't have the nerve to get the red team bibs to go with it, though.

After having my feet go numb on a ride on Tuesday, I wandered over to R&A and picked up some Giordana SottoZero shoe covers. Didn't ride today, but I'm pretty eager to see how much they help tomorrow. They seem to be pretty well made and I think that they look nice (understated).

Worst bike shop I've ever set foot in.

Well, they have nice stock.

I haven't interacted with the salesmen there too much (the guy helping me today was perfectly nice/helpful), but a couple seem to have, ah, strong personalities. If you're referring to that gruffness, it can be off-putting if you're not used to it (it's more bark than anything). I am used to it, they do have nice stock, and I'm in walking distance.
