Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm going to SD next month and will likely only be able to get in one ride. Currently planning on riding up to the Needle.

OK, not entirely empty, but hey, this is the Williamsburg Bridge, spanning Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Nice! I have yet to ride on fresh asphalt because they never lay asphalt. Everything is tar and pea graveled, even the state roads. I think the fracking companies are doing it everywhere though. I drove to a trail today for a ride and ended up driving along 15-20 miles of still being laid asphalt. I think I'm going to go have a try on it.
