Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Empty road ahead photos

icyclist posted the following photo here that shows an empty road ahead, taken on the road. I think it's an amazing photo, and would love to see more that others have taken. I understand that not all shots can be car free, but without another bike in view, it's kind of like just being out there.

Wow - all good photos. Where are they all? (UMD - I'm guessing the Sierra Nevada Mountains: Whitney Portal Rd., and "old" 395 out of Bishop?).

Bikes: Lots

A lot of my photos don't have vehicles in them. I'd have to sit around and wait for vehicles to show up.

I think this is my favorite one ... I took it on Hwy 11 near where I live.

Highway 11 is a fabulous road, breath taking scenery, low traffic, smooth pavement, wide shoulders...
Heres one heading back to the lake from the other direction.

Highway 11 (west) in Central Alberta ... it meets up with the Icefield Parkway at its west end.

Here's my Highway 11 Collection:
