Contador's New Campaign to Promote Prostate Exam Awareness
Inspired by his former teammate Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong campaign, multiple Grand Tour champion Alberto Contador recently unveiled his own program to promote awareness of prostate exams. When asked to comment on the new saddle design, Contador remarked, "It may not be the very best, but it sure is up there!"
(No, not really...)

I intended for this thread to be about Contador's goofy saddle graphics. I mean, really - of all the places to put that logo? But in a weird way, it actually made me curious about the age at which it is recommended to have regular screenings for prostate cancer. I just turned 40 last year, and I'm not particularly looking forward to a digital exam. (Does anybody?) When I saw this article, I was surprised to read that prostate cancer is diagnosed in an estimated 80% of men who reach the age of 80.
The comment below is interesting:
I wouldn't take that as a green light to ignore any warning signals. Early detection of health issues, particularly cancers, is critical in treating them, so ignoring red flags won't make them go away.
I hope that my original post wasn't offensive to anyone dealing with prostate cancer or related health issues. Was it low brow and juvenile? Maybe. But if it gets people thinking and taking action, then maybe it's not so bad after all. However, my apologies if anyone was offended by it.
The comment below is interesting:
Prostate cancer tends to develop in men over the age of fifty and although it is one of the most prevalent types of cancer in men, many never have symptoms, undergo no therapy, and eventually die of other causes. This is because cancer of the prostate is, in most cases, slow-growing, symptom-free, and since men with the condition are older they often die of causes unrelated to the prostate cancer, such as heart/circulatory disease, pneumonia, other unconnected cancers, or old age.

Well, some good did come out of this post. I finally stopped dragging my feet, and updated my page for the LiveStrong Challenge. I guess I just needed a "gun" to the head.

I'm sure that BSNYC will have a field day with this!
This reminded me of the saddle that Salsa put out a few years ago in conjunction with Selle San Marco. It had Salsa's Pepperman logo embroidered on the cover. He was flashing the peace sign, and saying, "Seiditi sulla mia faccia" which supposedly meant "Sit on my face". (I may have misspelled some of the Italian words.)

Damn, I'd like the saddle (without CONTADOR and the 3 GC names on it, of course... I'll put them in using a crayon when I win all 3).

That IMO is the absolutely dumbest graphic I have ever seen on a saddle.

Come to think of it, I think the three tour names need to be replaced with "Pull my finger"
