Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wilier Triestina Escape Competition

OK,
I have this guy in my bloc that has this wilier bike. I would like to buy it and I would like you guys to give me an estimate of how much this bike should go for...

- Wilier Triestina Escape Competition
- Black and yellow paint.
- Amadeus aluminium.
- Ritchey carbon handle.
- Ritchey carbon fork
- Campy Veloce 10 speed group set (breaks, derailleur...)
- This is a triple crankset veloce.
- IRD break added (break to the high level of the handle)
- Look 337 Pedals
- Moena rims ambrosio
- CST tires
- Selle Italia SLR
- Seat post Ritchley carbon.
- Size Large

Here's the fun part. The guy bought the bike 5 years ago. It was his
first run with clipped pedals and fell; hurt himself and NEVER GOT BACK ON THE BIKE. I can attest that this bike has been collecting dust for the last five years.
The mavic bike computer shows 1.2 KM total.

Unless he give it to me for free... How much is this bike worth??

Francois

I bought a similar wilier tristina escape last year for 1600cad. The differences were: my bike didn't come with pedals, aluminum seatpost, fulcrum 7 rims($300-400rims) and it's a double not a triple (veloce everything). So your bike is probably worth 1200 but I'm not familiar with your pedals or rims. Good luck

Guess what

Funny that your post came now, months after I did the post. The story ended last week when the guy who owned the bike gave it to me.

I will re-write to make it clear... "gave it to me".

Plus, helmet, shoes, pump... The whole nine yard.

Very nice guy. You need to get him a nice bottle of scotch, an expensive bottle of wine, or a case of some intersting beer (Chimay perhaps).
