My avatar is GB (Belgium Grand Bazaar, kind of like a Meijer) and they were the associate sponsor for Mapei a while back...if you can find old photos of Museeuw, you will see that red circle.
GB was the primary on the team I rode on when I was in Europe.
Mapei was the winningest team ever, and the largest. They had a ton of money and there were basically no restrictions on how many riders they could have. But the team owner pulled the plug after about the fifteenth doping deal. They morphed into Quick Step-Davitimon.
They won Paris Roubaix five times and finished 1-2-3. I think three times. The team owner would let the DS know who was going to win this time.
Also, the Belgians defected into Domo Farm Frites.
the history of this group is pretty fascinating. But they were pretty much a classics team.
