Sounds like Contador struggles with over-training, just like the rest of us.

I saw a guy riding a "faux fixie" Bianchi in Arcadia today. I was wondering why he was riding so slow, and doing so much coasting. (he had a freewheel installed.) When I passed him, I saw that he had no brakes! I think riding a freewheeled bike with no brakes in trafffic proved his dedication to "looking cool."

I used to do that when I was a kid, but not by choice. Combination of crap department store BMX bike brakes, and junk brake cables from the local hardware store that would only last two weeks. I was so glad when I got the money to order a good brake package from a mail order bike shop. Fortunately, Russells Point isn't known for its mountainous terrain.
To this day, I'm still anal about the brakes on my bike, even if nothing else on it works right.

I saw 2 kids riding bikes without tires the other day, and they were nice looking bikes too. I thought they were just joking around, and I am hoping they are, however they were decked out in womens jeans with a u-lock in the back pocket with their chrome bags. If they were serious...dang, can't say that without getting banned probably. The only bad thing about Chicago that I can't stand is the hipsters.

Genetics have failed me
Why use rims? Just weld 32 spokes onto a hub. Weight reduction at it's best.
What am I saying.. spokes, hubs? Lame! Get rid of the hub and just pop a wheelie or something... totally safe.

One day, and it won't be long, this dude is going to get run over and killed. The unfortunate part of that is the poor guy who runs him over is going to have to live with the fact that he killed some idiot--through no fault of his own--for the rest of his life. That doesn't seem fair, does it? Or, very cool.

Then I was a kid I blew my back tire far from home. The only solution before the sun came down was to ask someone for side cutters to cut the tire and tube off and ride home. Needless to say I caught it pretty hard when I got home.
