Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A lot of people around here just don't like reflectors. I got shot down for having reflectors in my first bike pic post.

On the bright side, by removing all my reflectors I shaved about 150 grams off of my bike for free.

ha. It's bad enough smelling the piss in person. Good ole NYC early in the morning. There was a hobo sleeping on another bench. I can only imagine the responses I would get if I were to take a picture of my bike next to him.

I dont get the whole reflector thing nor do I care.

the reflector thing is about aesthetics over safety. apparently you aren't concerned with either as you share photos of garbage and invade the hobo's home (jk). i find so many beautiful views biking around NYC. there's no need to perpetuate dated stereotypes on NYC cleanliness and safety.

this coming from a New Yorker....
no worries, it's your bike and you spent your money on it so do with it what you wish. This thread is just filled with CAAD lovers. When one posts a pic it is usually a drive side pic with a decent backgrund so the beauty of the bike is not taken away. You have an amazing bike but in that pic the area around the bike takes over the pic. I can't imagine how you would respond to how harsh they are on the "Hot or Not" thread...lol

Don't let any of this get to you. It's the internet, sometimes people give you a hard time over silly things. There's nothing wrong with your photo, your bike, or the reflectors. Everyone was just having a little fun and no one meant any harm. Don't be afraid to dish it back at everyone.

I really hope you don't leave. Please continue to post and show photos of NYC and your bike. They are appreciated.

I second this...just having fun at work. Please post more pics of your bike and your city. We love all things CAAD. Heck I'm the guy sitting here drooling over the 2014 CAAD10-4 that I can't afford

I'm looking to buy a new 2014 CAAD10 105. Do you guys think it's worth it to shell out an extra $600 for the Ultegra. The new Ultegra 6800 groupset is nice. Money isn't really an issue but saving an extra $600 would be nice. OR if i were to shell out that much, go for the new EVO 105 that is the same price as CAAD10 Ultegra? choices..choices..can't decide.

I have a caadx with ultegra (6700) and I'm not impressed. I does shift pretty smoothly, maybe a bit better than rival which I have on the other two bikes. However, I really don't like how far the lever has to move before something happens. Maybe I'm just too used to Sram. I think you should go ride a few and see what you like. Also are there color differences? Again, which do you like?

Also, high end caad vs low end evo? Get the caad, save for a hi-mod.

Usually the difference between bikes is not just the group - in most cases you get better wheels, upgraded stem and bars, crank and other little tidbits. I would spend the extra $600

It's worth it, because I'm drooling over the stealth Ultegra model (CAAD10 3).

But seriously, just try them out and see what you think. I was going to go for 105 or Rival, but happened to find a year old model in stock in my size with Ultegra (6700), so I bought it. I could've saved about $600 and gotten a Supersix with Apex, and spent that extra cash on new wheels or something, but opted for the CAAD10 frame and better components. Bottom line, if you like the way the EVO rides better, get it. If you like the way the CAAD10 rides better, get it. Years of upgrading will land you better components, wheels, etc, but the frame will always be the same - unless of course you switch frames.

Just checked out Cannondale's website. I'm drooling over the CAAD10 4 and 3, oh and Blank Inc. I really love how they used the SRAM Red green groupset and matched the Cannondale logo to it. Think I can trade my 2012 CAAD10 3 in for a 2014?

I think you are right. I am leaning towards getting the stealth black Ultegra over the 105. I think I will end upgrading the 105 immediately anyhow and still be spending a few hundred. Interesting that this new Ultegra has no 'caad 10' lettering anywhere on the body. It just sales "Cannondale" on the bike. It's a nice looking bike for those who prefer a muted bike.

From what I can remember, the BB-to-saddle height on my bikes is 72.5 cm (I have an inseam of 82 cm). Subtracting the seat tube length (50 cm - from the Cannondale website) and the saddle-to-rail height (4 cm) gives 18.5 cm of exposed seatpost up to the clamp. I'm currently out of town on business, I'll try to measure it physically when I get home.

Also, what type of handlebars are those? (I'm just trying to compile a list of traditional/classic bend bars available today)
They're Ritchey Carbon Classic bars. I've just set them up as compact bars while looking for a good deal on Ritchey Logic Carbon bars.

I'm about 5' 9.5". The 56cm frame feels like a monster underneath me. The 54cm feels good, but I'm just curious as to how the 52cm would feel or look. I'd be hard pressed to test ride a 52cm though, I believe. Every bike shop I've talked to steers me back to the 54 or 56...
I was originally looking for a 54 when I first bought the bike (my old TCR size M/L has a TT of 55.5 cm, the CAAD10 54 is 56 cm). I was running a 100 cm stem on the TCR and it's been my very comfortable workhorse prior to the CAAD10. However the stores that had a 54 didn't have the colorway I liked (the Team Edition). All the stores steered me to the 52 (with the stock 100 cm stem). I thought I could squeeze into a 52, but had the hand numbness after doing longer rides.

What did they know of proper (personal) bike fit... Tsk, tsk, tsk.

I ordered 2014 CAAD10 3 and should have it in next few days, i can make some photo or if you any questions to help your decision.
One thing i did ask cannondale is the internal rear brake cable, there answer was, It was not modified for Di2, it was for better brake performance and smoother lines. There focus is still a lightweight performance alternative to Carbon. The Caad10 105 and Evo 105 are great bikes, for me it just came down to the colour i liked and hopefully not having to upgrade for a while

You're help is much appreciated. I don't want to squeeze myself onto a smaller frame, but if it provides more comfort - in particular with reach - why not? Does Ritchey still offer a Carbon Classic bar? I thought they only had an aluminum version now. With Specialized discontinuing the S-Works Classic, I can't think of any CF classic bend bars... Well, besides 3T.

It is really slick looking. That's the first stock blacked-out SL-K Light crank arm I've ever seen as well. If you could order a frame from any level of CAAD, I'd be talking to my LBS right now. I'd love to have that frame or the 2012 black/white version. Save my current white/red for a rain bike and ride a classy black ride otherwise.

So I picked up my '13 CAAD10 4 Rival yesterday and took it for a ride this morning. I decided to snap a quick shot along the trail. I was so excited to take it out I forgot to remove the dork-disc *facepalm* ... I know I will receive no mercy from the 41, but I'm still thrilled to be riding my first road bike, first Cannondale, and first time clipless

I got the bike from Just the Right Gear in Salem, VA. They sold the bike for $1300, and they have other great deals on Cannondales. So if anyone is interested in picking up a bike, and you're in the area, I definitely recommend giving them a call.
