true.
My point however is that if you want to make a UCI legal bike, make a UCI legal bike.
If you want to make the fastest tri bike possible, don't start with a UCI legal design and tweak.
The idea that you would have a non UCI legal bike marketed to Triathletes, that is hindered by design concepts inherited from UCI regs, and is not as fast as other possible designs that start with a clean sheet of paper makes little sense, other than perhaps for marketing and or cost control issues.
I'm pretty certain you make a bike that is ITU compliant, faster than a P5, and for around the same price point if you simply throw out the idea that it has to look like what the UCI calls a bike.
The only reason that's not happening appears to be what's marketable, given the death of non UCI compliant bikes a decade or so ago when the UCI started clamping down on innovation in TT bikes.

I absolutely love the looks of this thing. I hated the way the P4 looked (though I still would've ridden one if I'd had the $). Maybe I can skip a few generations and trade my aluminum P3 in for one in a year or two when they start showing up used.

I love nice stuff as much as the next guy but these "superbike" framesets are out of control. The amount of money that you need to sink into shaving 30 seconds off your next IM bike split is even worse than for a high end road bike--and that's saying something.

"UCI legal" <> "triathlon legal". There will indeed be a ton of them at Kona. There are two versions of the new P5, a UCI legal one and one aimed at triathlon (and the 99% of us who race bikes but don't need to give a rat's ass about UCI legality). They basically differ in the fork and brake cover only.
