Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Here is a Javelin Amarone I put together from a frameset I bought on Ebay NEW for $300. I finished it Saturday afternoon and went on an 82 mile ride with it on Sunday! Wt was right at 17.70#'s as pictured, I have some lighter wheels and pedals that I plan to put on that can get it real close to being under 16#. I ended up spending $1503 in it like you see it in the pic and it was built with mostly new parts and no parts from Chinese companies.

I know the one hood is misaligned this pic was taken after the ride and it got bumped taking it out of the truck I just didnt notice it prior to taking the pic. I also have a 90mm Thomson stem coming along with a Thomson seat post collar.

Build:
Javelin Amarone Carbon frame, Zero fork and FSA headset NEW $300 Ebay
Ultegra FD/RD/shifters/brakes new take off $410
Ultegra crank NEW $148
Oval 327's with training tires tubes and SRAM 1050 cassette $270

Thomson Maseterpiece Seatpost NEW $65
Thomson stem NEW $75 (pic has FSA)

Selle Italia saddle used $35
Easton EA70 aerobar used $35
Dura Ace chain new $46
Dura Ace Bottom Bracket $55 new

Jagwire cable kit $36
Lizard Skin bar tape $38

You forgot the punchline:

Post my bike in the "Hot or Not" thread...

He is talking about the mastercard commercials. You gave all the costs for your items so its like the commercial, but forgot the famous punchline at the end of "priceless".

Well, LMK what you guys think of my budget tri bike build. I figured the road bike would be a bigger hit here but will give this a tri, lol. I don't have the MC build sheet but I have less into this one than the road bike I posted above. I used some older 9-speed Dura Ace/Ultegra drivetrain parts I had along with a set of Spinergy Blades of Death 650c wheels for an old school look. I really like the bike and it fits me well. No rides with it yet but have it set up on the trainer and may take it out this weekend. It was the same Ebay deal new $300 frame set. In case your wondering I didn't buy anymore, lol.

Put on the Flo 30s. Bike is still abject poverty and needs a black crank which it will never get because I'll replace the frame before the crank:

I want a carbon frame. This one liquefies my insides over chip-seal.

Cheap fix for that - less air in the tires. I weigh 180, and run 100f/110r with 23s, 90f/100r with 25s. Less cheap fix - larger tires and/or tires with higher thread count (TPI). Vittoria Rubino Pro IIIs are 150 TPI, and you can get them for $19 for black 700x23s at Competitive Cyclist (website's down or I'd provide a link) and Ribble has them for $23 in any size or color you want. They're about the best deal out there for a non-racing tire. I've got Michelin Krylions/Pro 4 Endurance on most of my bikes, but have a set of Pro IIIs on one, and I like the Pro IIIs almost as much as the Michelins.

FWIW, I've got 700x23 Michelins on my CAAD9 and 700x 25s Michelins on my Allez E5, and they're fine on chip seal.

Now that I have these wheels I need to start lowering pressure I guess. It's 23mm from bead to bead, 25mm from the outsides of the brake track. I need to just experiment with what I have. Thanks for the tire recommendation.
