just reach the 2000 miles mark... and riding motivation.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nah - doesn't seem like my cup of tea, and I tend to get up early in the morning anyway

I don't mind using the balboa path for a couple loops to get in miles. A lot of my rides start in the east valley and include Sepulveda and/or Valley Vista, dropping down on Hayvenhurst to the park, getting in some miles and cruising home on the orange line path.

I'm also 32. And a solo cyclist. And i've done almost 2k miles as well. I need to find a local group, because my friends don't seem interested in cycling, other than taking a beach cruiser for a stroll.

Congratulations!

What a coincidence, crossed 2000 miles (since December) today . I actually took a longer ride home so I could get over the threshold (I'm now at 2018 miles + 55,822 feet climbed)

Im jealous. Living in Ohio makes it near impossible to ride in the winter months. I did 446 miles this month ( May 2012) but between kids, work and weather I cannot get out for longer rides.

Congrats on the 2k ! I wont hit that until September at the rate im going.

Joining/riding with a club was one of the best things I did to raise the enjoyment of my cycling. I put in 700 miles this past month with the club alone. I was very unmotivated before that.

I can't wait for the heat to get that high!!! I was freezing my raisins in 14deg celcius(57f) this morning. Way too cold! I'm a 22+ kind of guy. I love sweating in the 30+ weather!

Im 50 and hit my first 2000 miles today. Rode my first 50 miles in 3 hours last week end. i started riding in August 2011 after under going a significant lower back surgery the end of March last year. Put 1200 miles on my old MTB and the next 800 on my CAAD 8. I love it and Im completely motivated as Ive lost 75 lbs (used to be 297) and went from a size 44 waist to a 34-36. I actually cant wait for my MD to see me in July for my annual physical. I have 0 bp issues now also.

Im kind of a riding mercenary as I prefer to ride solo. It really clears my mind and gets my head screwed on right.

I feel like riding has saved my life in a way...

I enjoy/prefer riding solo. I'm surprised everyone doesn't.

Congratulations on your 2,000 miles! That would get you from LA to New Orleans, on your own power. It's a hell of an accomplishment.

Now it's time to take your bike to Yosemite and King's Canyon.

Thanks.

And yeah... i just get lazy and call it quits earlier when im solo. I need to feed off others' energy. Whether im faster or slower than the other person, it doesn't matter.
