Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone waiting on a 2005 Felt ?? There's a holdup.

I just got off the phone 5 minutes ago with the East Coast sales office of Felt bicycles. I have had an F65 on order since early December. First I was told that the bikes would be in very late in December or early in January. Then I heard through the "grapevine" that there was problems getting the Ultegra 10 components....Now the salesman just told me that there was a problem with the seatposts and they are waiting on a shipment of all new seatposts before they ship the bikes to the various dealers. He says the bikes should still ship before the end of January.....
I guess with it being January and all here in New England I can afford to wait but it's still frustrating

been there-done that. I really like my Felt bike but I went thru similar delays a couple of summers ago when I bought it. Ordered in April and was told many lies about delivery date before I finally got it (but without the correct fork) in late-June. Since then, I have had a couple more occasions where the Felt head office gave BS info and poor delivery on parts. I also have sent a couple of emails thru their official site that were never answered. Poor customer service may kill this company.

Waiting for seatposts?

Is anyone buying that load of crap?

I wasn't aware that there was an international shortage of seatposts. Something else is up because if the only thing keeping millions of dollars of inventory out of the stores is seat posts they would go buy them from one of more than a dozen sellers of high quality seatposts.

I was excited when my lbs said they were going to start carrying Felts, as I want to get a 2005 F70. They claim they should start getting them in within the next 2 weeks. I hope there is not a problem with the company, as a warranty is one of the reasons I have finally decided to go with a new bike.

I asked about the Felt a few weeks ago and the guy didn't have them and didn't know when he'd get them.

I shot Felt an Email asking when the '05s are shipping. I'll let you know if they respond.

I went to my LBS today, and they'd just received shipment of 10 different Felts. Seatposts, decals and all.

You've been had.

I work at a shop that carries felt as our main line of road bikes. We've gotten a few lower end 05's in -- the rest are trickling in model by model. I know that the f1's are coming in next week. Most everything will be available in february or march.

RE: shipping problems -- its not a problem with felt, its probably a problem with their rep (the independent middle men who go between felt and the shops). I know we had a similar problem to that listed above (a bike that shipped much later than it was supposed to) -- we called Jim Felt himself, and had the problem solved in two days. Felt's a great company, their customer service is good, and the bikes are amazing. Trust me, i'm not just a salesman, i'm an owner.

Felt seatpost have a decal that is specific to Felt. That decal changed this year from their past year so this may have something to do with the "seatpost delay" comment. I will say again that I like my Felt bike but have been frustrated with customer service. They have some dumbasses working in their west coast warehouse....take my word on this. And, the post above that says they had to call Jim Felt to get something taken care of kinda backs me up on my criticism. You should never have to call the top guy when dealing with a company....thats why he hires his staff. An example of my latest problem was that I wanted a black seatpost clamp (as my bike came with a silver). Pretty simple thing, right? Well, when the new clamp came in it was the incorrect size for my F1 scandium frame (yes, the warehouse had the right info to ship). A second attempt to get the correct size....showed up incorrect again. Finally got it right in the third time after my lbs called Beverly who runs the west coast warehouse. It's the simple little things that kill....just like in War of the Worlds.

What I mean't in my initial comment about the seatposts is that they didn't want to ship the bikes with the seatposts they had. They were waiting for replacement seatposts to be delivered so they could replace the others and then they would begin shipping....Whether the story is a smokescreen or not I cannot say....

I will note though that each time I called he asked what model bike I was waiting on (F65) so that may explain why some other 2005's have arrived.

I hope the delay isn't too extended. This would be pretty serious if it were happening in April, May, or June when demand was peaking wouldn't it ??

Last year I ordered a Felt and the lbs kept saying it will be here in 3 days and it never showed. I thought the lbs was BSing so I called Felt. They would tell me it is suppose to be in our warehouse tomorrow and will ship the next day. After two months of new stories everyweek they told me that they were waiting on a shipment from Taiwan. I canceled the order with through the lbs and ordered a Trek. The lbs thanked me and said they hated dealing with Felt, but it was a great product. I received the Trek in 3 days on a completly new model.

I just want to say I've had no problems with my Felt or with the company. They have responded well to all my questions in a timely manner and my bike is the best bang for the buck that I could afford.

As to the shipping delays etc. I wonder if it has anything to do with Felt's contracts with their suppliers. Felt obviously has very favorable cost terms to be able to offer such high end componenets on lower cost bikes. (I have DA and paid <$2000. Find that in another bike). Perhaps one of the things they give up to have the low price is guaranteed shipping dates. ... Although this is just speculation on my part.

BTW, I've got a Cervelo Dual on order and they seem to be delaying shipment as well, so this isn't something unique to Felt. First it was going to be the first week of January, and now they say they won't build it until next week sometime, and that shipping and customs mean it will be another 2 weeks after that before my lbs gets it. I don't care about the delay either, since riding a tri-bike in the snow is not something I would do, but it would be nice if I were a little more confident that the bike would be here (and built) by March.

I'm with ya Dogboy....

I'm not jumping ship on Felt....I've heard too much good feedback on them. However, I wish they'd just set a date and stick to it.....or if they honestly can't say, then say so.....

The problem is Shimano and not Felt. Obviously companies like Trek get the Shimano stuff first, so the only thing you can do is wait. My F15 was a month late. But boy is it worth it when it gets here.

Maybe it's Shimano's fault but my dealer told me that Felt's office is entirely closed until January 17th. I'm guessing customer service just ain't their thing.

Closed til the 17th ???? Your dealer lied to you ...I myself spoke with their East Coast office salesman just last week. I hope that whole availability thing sorts itself out shortly
You can call them easy enough yourself, their number is on their site:

My dealer says no F70 until mid-February. Not sure that I can wait that long ($$$ burning a hole in my pocket).

Last year, I ordered my husband a Felt F60, I think. Anyway, we waited 6 weeks for the bike to come in. Finally, the shop owner and Felt distributer worked out a deal and upgraded us to the F50. We were stoked with the upgrade, and since we mtb, we didn't mind waiting. Since the purchase, we've had no problems with the bike, at all.

Wow
I'll wait a few more weeks for an upgrade like that !!!!
If you don't mind my asking, who prompted that discussion? Did the LBS owner lean on Felt or did Felt offer up without asking ???

We went into the LBS one day and the salesman said they worked out a deal with Felt. I think the LBS wanted to make things right and leaned on Felt, though. We were super pleased.

At the time this post began I was set on a 2005 F70. Still waiting. Back then the dealer told me they would have access in "mid February." Called yesterday, said they didn't have the pricing list yet but should get it today. Called today, they said they would call me right back. Still waiting. I sent an Email to felt back then, no response. Seems like they don't want my business. I am very close to spending a hundred or two mor on an allez elite. Anyone have any luck getting a, '05 felt???

I'm waiting on a Giant OCR Composite 2. It was ordered in November with an estimated delivery of December 20. It has been delayed repeatedly and is now set for late April. For what it's worth, Mainly Bikes, my LBS, says that Giant says that the delay is because of long waits for the Ultegra 10.

I put an order in on a Felt F55 last week at the LBS. After shopping around, it seemed like a very good setup for the price. LBS says bike should be in sometime next week. Since there is still a foot of snow on the ground, this is no big deal. I will keep you posted.
