Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Questions of the highest importance, can't use 15,000$ bike

Got no more inner tubes for my Reynolds assault wheelset and my SRAM S60 TT bike wheelset, my girlfriend ride my old Ksyriums ES wheelset so I need to buy tubes for 3 different wheelsets with 3 different rim sizes.

The Reynolds have 55 mm, SRAM have 60 mm, and Ksyirum 20 mm.

You know any place I could buy long valves for a good price shipping to Canada. I'm searching to buy about 20 long valves and 10 short ones,

Just that PBK ain't competitive anymore.

Thanks for the head up,

Max

Uh, have you ever considered just buying long valved tubes? They will fit any of your fancy wheelsets.

Or else use valve extenders.

Just so I understand, you have a $15,000 bike and you are worried about buying a few tubes. Am I understanding this correctly?

I think this troll would have been more effective with a sock puppet account as a first post.

Do you guys think that a man who buys a $15k bike wants ugly long valves sticking out of the rims? That doesn't fit the profile.

I thought you weren't allowed to put clinchers on a bike that costs more than a Geo Metro.

I vote yes. But you have to admit the color coordination was a nice touch.

Those valve extenders work well with the color scheme.

No. The Vittoria tubulars are designed to work with Vittoria's proprietary valve extenders. My understanding of what should have been done was the silver portion of the stem should have been removed at the base, and the correct length extender put in.

The extenders I already had are just a touch too short used alone, so the LBS put them on top of the stem, which works, but leads to the funky look. And you can't just take them off, because there's no way to put a valve stem into the silver piece. The correct length red extenders would be all red, and wouldn't stick out so far. Someday, I'll run them down.

This thread is begging, just begging, for a parody. I don't know where to begin.

Perhaps this thread is a parody. Guy bragging about $15,000 bike, but can't afford high priced inner tubes.

Yeah, I think the subject of the parody has to some actual serious intent, in order to be a good target for parody.

Now simple ridicule is another matter.

"Questions of the highest importance, can't use 15,000$ bike"...what does the price of the bike have to do with the need for tubes? If this a question of the highest importance, well, you may have overlooked much of life, no?

Just get the long valved (80mm?) tubes and stick it on all your wheels; although a couple of cms sticking out may alter the laminar flow of the shallower wheels and impact wattage negetively...

Again very nice looking bike.

But if you still have those extenders on at Christmas time, a little white tape and you have candy canes!

That is so untrue, if you have something that alter the laminar flow you will have to develop more wattage to keep the same speed. You impact the aerodynamics negatively but the wattage positively.

What a dumb comment, almost like the title of this thread.
