Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trek 2200 (2006) For $700 - Opinions

Looking at this listing and considering picking up this Trek 2200 from 2006 for $700. Would love some opinions on whether I am missing something and if it is a good deal. It looks like it would fit me if I correctly assumed it is at 52-54cm. Even if it is a 56 the Geometry is pretty compact on these so I could make it work.

Full Ultegra group
500-1000 miles

Should I be worried about the OCLV rear stay given the age? I had a 2007 Trek 1500 SLR with Shimano 105 and I really loved the ride. That frame only had carbon front fork and seatpost so I am hoping this will be a bit of an upgrade with more carbon and a better group for about the same price I sold that one for (it was too small for me). Really appreciate any insight provided.

That's a nice bike and a good deal. Those components are nice, 9 spd but quality stuff. The frame has a lot of positive reviews online. If it fits, it's a good buy, if it doesn't, it's a terrible deal.

I have a 2007 2200 with the same carbon seat stay. I bought the frame off ebay and built it up with 10sp 105 components. It rides really nice. No problems at all. If it fits, buy it.
