Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Noob bike and components

So I am a newbie to cycling in general. I'm 16. I have a new bike.

-80's Cannondale Aluminum Series 3.0
-Suntour gearshift system, called "BLAZE", downtube shift system
-Nitto stem
-Vetta seat
-Suntour Dia-Comp Brakes
-The handlebar, ans far as I can tell has etchings of italy in it. and it says "ITALIANRB" I have no idea what this is.

So tell me what I'm basically looking at, will you?

One of my friends had that exact bike, I think it was a mid 80's? Like 86 or 87 maybe? In any case, what you are looking at, is a 80's-ish Cannondale 3.0... I'm really not sure what you are asking about at all.

Rac, I think you are looking at a bike.

Here's a tip= the more detailed question you ask, the better answer you will get.
Are you looking for the quality of the components? The $$ worth? The upgrade value? What?

What do you want to know?

Neh, I wasn't looking to upgrade anything. And I left a sentence out... whoops...

Anyway, I was hoping to have people reminesce about old Cannondale bikes. Wanted to see what kind of stories people could dig up.

That, Sir, was my first real road bike as an adult. Prolly has a steel fork? Mine was black and was way too big for me (60 cm vs. 55) Didn't keep me from riding the heck out of it, though.

Upgrade possibilities are very limited. Rear axle spacing is 126.
