Can anyone honestly say that any recreational cyclist - or any racer for that matter - gives a flying rodent's patoot if a jersey is yellow? I probably have three jerseys that are yellow, none of which have anything to do with the Tour d'France leader. It's just a yellow flippin' jersey fercrissakes. Sure, you might not care for the color, but tell me honestly it's not the first ugly jersey you've ever worn or seen. Actually, most of the pro-poseur-style logo-festooned clownish jerseys are ugly. So it will just be another ugly jersey in your closet.
Good god, the petty vanities of the Roadie. And we wonder why non cyclists think we're dweebish poseurs. Sheesh.
Just be be glad it's a fairly normal yellow instead of the ugly and over the top optic yellow that seems to be all the rage among overly fearful riders these days.

This would drive me nuts. I hate ugly jerseys, and I'd be angry if I had to pay for one to stay in a club. For me it would come down to how bad I wanted to be part of the club. I'd never wear a yellow jersey I didn't earn...

Using your a lot of of the poster's logic that yellow is reserved for the tour de france leader. You cannot wear a lot of colors. Yellow, Pink, Red, Green, Blue, White, Black, Aqua, Orange, Turquoise, and Gold. All mean something in various races.

So I'm in the group that is starting up a cycling club at work. We have a lot of employees and a good number are cyclist. Most of the cyclist are recreational and ride for fitness at lunch or on the weekends in various groups. I am trying very hard to not show any kind of elitism.
They presented the jerseys today and everyone started voting on the SUPER BRIGHT yellow jersey with a small company logo in the center. I mentioned that this is over the top and there are other non-yellow options available but everyone talked about how great it looks and how you will be more visible to cars. I mentioned that it's typically worn by the leader of the tour de france and this isn't just a yellow jersey, this is super yellow just like the tour jerseys.
People replied back saying "we don't think anyone will think we are the leaders of the tour de france, lets go with the yellow jersey. It looks great and it represents the company as a fast club." (These guys are NOT fast),
I'm all for wearing pro kit jerseys and colors but a bright yellow jersey seems over the top. Thoughts?
I honestly don't know what to say. I don't feel comfortable wearing the jersey but I feel like if the club wants to they can wear them.
I have to pay for the jersey and it cost $65...
