Selle Anatomica Titanico X, how long does it last?
I sprung for a Titanico X, truleather model, from Selle Anatomica. Of course, the one I ordered is back-ordered so I have until Weds to cancel the order if I want.
I'm a little concerned by the reviews I keep reading on-line. Apparently, everyone (or most everyone) agrees that it's a very comfortable saddle but that they stretch out very quickly and are junk after that. I've read reports from guys who claim to have worn them out in only a few hundred miles. Others claim they have thousands on theirs.
I weigh 190 and I intend to put this saddle on my Trek 520 do-everything bike.
Any input from other Titanico X users about longevity of the saddle?
Thanks.

so these things are just solid leather layers, with no underlying shell?
i don't own one (and probably wouldn't since they weigh about 450 grams) but everything i read quickly would indicate it's gonna stretch eventually. how soon it's all stretched out is gonna be a factor of how often you ride and in what conditions...getting it wet very often will shorten the life.
but at only $100, if these are god's gift to your particular azzbones, and you don't mind the extra weight, then why not just stock up and enjoy...

I have about 1000 miles on mine. I love it. It did stretch some initially, but has settled at about 1/2 of the adjustment range. I am about 40-50 pounds heavier than you also.

I have the regular version (non-X model), weigh 185 lbs, and have had it for about 1.5 years. No problems with stretch-it feels better now than a year ago. I really like it, and have put the X version on my xmas list so I can have one for one of my other bikes. Previous saddle was a Brooks B17 (still have these on other bikes), and what I prefer about the Titanico is it doesn't need to be set up "nose up", like my Brooks.

Just remember that the Titanico is more like a hammock than a traditional saddle. I've had mine for a few years now and it works just fine. The key is not to try and tension it like a traditional saddle. If you do try to make it into a B17 then you will very quickly run out of adjustment. Al

You bought their second most strongest saddle they make wit their toughest and strongest leather, it should last you a very long time if you don't apply oil to it or let water get to it.

Maybe go to their website and post this question to them. I have this saddle as well, but have only had for a year. It's extremely comfortable and allows me to not wear cycling shorts if I don't want to. I'm quite happy with it.
