Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do it anyway, just to show him you're a real cyclist.

This could have been possible.

Some of my new colder weather gear came today...it was probably a dumb idea to get a black jacket/vest in the first place. I now have bright blue, commuting can commence without fear of getting run over at night.

that depends. unless it has some reflective tape/logos it will be just as invisible as black. It's at least one, (or two: one steady, one blinking) headlight and taillight that should prevent you becoming roadkill at night. anything else and you are just kidding yourself.

Yeah, the black jacket and vest have no reflecting tape/logo, the new jacket does. The light situation is taken care of. Guess it's all peace of mind.

It was also kind of chilly in the morning with only a light wind jacket/fingerless gloves, the new stuff should keep me warmer. Plus I have baselayers coming on Saturday to help out with the warmth as well.

Runishment continues. I can almost smell normal. Provided normal smells sweaty, and a little like ass.

In bike news, I have been starting to get gear for my Cirque du NY in the spring. I bought a Revelate Tangle frame bag, and Tacx axle nuts to get the SS on the Vortex trainer. I ordered a large Topeak Drybag saddlebag, but received the wrong thing (large Topeak Aero Wedge bad). When I called the supplier, they very nicely told me that they couldn't get the Drybag anymore, credited by MC, and sent the Aero bag gratis. So I'm disappointed, but more than made whole.

And Nashbar is ditching the Look Quartz pedals, marked off 50%. When the additional 20% hit, I ordered 3 sets. Woot!
