Uhm, there's frequent bike content in this thread. I'd daresay that even with OT conversation, it has a great signal-to-noise than the greater 41 - whereas folks out there contribute to noise via talking out of their asses, our noise is the occasional bridge/bird pic, talk on the virtues of beet juice, complaints about the weather and discussions of personal triumphs and struggles.

You Know!? For Kids!
I am questioning why some threads are moved after years and others are not, when then both threads fit the parameters of the reason for moving the threads?

I've never visited one of the "Roadies and ______" threads - do they actually have road bike content or was it _________ content from those that rode road?

See my posts above about capriciousness. I have already answered your question.

I abhor capriciousness. Given a choice, my pants always extend all of the way to my ankle.
And running is still dumb.

But this "Hiking" thread wa likely to lead to an avalanche of hobby threads because the idea was actually hatched in Machka's "Hobbies" thread. Doesn't take much imagination to realize that, does it? Yet this is not what the administration has in mind. They are insistent that the Addiction thread and the RTT thread remain the SOLE off-topic threads in their respective forums.
But don't take my word for it, feel free to ask Tom. In private. The rest of the forums could care less and resent the interruption.

That's been an issue as long as I've been coming here, and I joined in 2005 or so. It will be a conundrum forever.

In this thread, I think it's more appropriate to post what you ate for breakfast, how many times you had bowel movements or which person you hate at your workplace than to post anything related to a bike.

out walking the earth
It was agreed upon by the Administration that the Addiction thread and RTT thread would be allowed as sole exceptions to the policy of "Cycling Only" topics in the regular forums. As you know, we try not to be dicks about some things, and along the way the "Watches" thread and the "Racing Car" threads slid in quietly under the radar. No big deal, we can be reasonable.
But this "Hiking" thread wa likely to lead to an avalanche of hobby threads because the idea was actually hatched in Machka's "Hobbies" thread. Doesn't take much imagination to realize that, does it? Yet this is not what the administration has in mind. They are insistent that the Addiction thread and the RTT thread remain the SOLE off-topic threads in their respective forums.

that is exactly my question, why now and why here! I and others, are or were, as I have been told to stop asking by the mods, why some threads are moved and others are not, when all the threads in question are off topic for their specific forums.

Saddle bag covers most of the post. Seat stay light is easier. I only need it on overcast days or if I'm out at dusk.

Most saddlebags have a loop for a light.

....not to brag or anything, but I did predict that Addiction XXXIII would be the one where we crucified someone. Another triumph for the Magic 8 Ball.
