one of the things that appealed to me was that both the service manager and the owner said early on that while of course they want to upsell where appropriate, that they never want anyone to try to sell products or services the customers don't actually need. that was a huge relief and sort of sold me right away on the type of people they are.

Thanks for the UK suggestions. Merlin Cycles had good prices, but the best in the UK was Ribble with the 10% off.
Good work, Lester. I didn't think to look at Planet Cyclery. Some of their prices are very good, arguably the best in the US.

Casually Deliberate
Brownies fresh from the oven, clean sheets on the bed, coffee in the pot, a new (used) saddle on my bike tomorrow and my best guy by my side- life is pretty darned good from where I'm sitting.

I wonder where Planet Cyclery gets their Campy stuff. Campy sure as hell isn't allowing them to sell at those prices. The first time I noticed them was on ebay selling EPS for cheaper than everyone. So Campy must know.

i was offered a full time job today. i'm going to take it pending some final details. it's way outside what i've been doing for the past 20 years, and it's a huge pay cut from my previous job, but i'm kind of stoked about doing something so completely different. i'll have to continue freelancing on top of it, but the idea of a steady paycheck and health insurance were super appealing. also, one of the 9 mile routes to get there is mostly bicycle friendly and on a parkway along the river so i may be able to become a bicycle commuter.
sounds great! high five.

why do you always perch your bike so precariously next to water?

To be fair, sometimes the clients elicited the same reaction.

The same can be said for computer programmers. I was the systems analyst, the liaison between them and the client, and sometimes I just had to stare at the programmer with kind of a Clint Eastwood squint, speechless, with dropped jaw, in disbelief at what I was hearing.
To be fair, sometimes the clients elicited the same reaction.

I have always said that auto repair would be a wonderful profession if it weren't for the cars and the people.
