Prescription Sunglasses - fit question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Like you, I just ordered my distance prescrption because I don't really need the up-close I have in my progressives that I normally use. But the wind has really been bothering my eyes while riding; my glasses with clip-on shades kept sliding down my nose; it was just annoying the heck out of me.

It'll be 2-3 weeks before I get these. I'll check back in when i do.
I'll be interested in hearing what you think of these. If you don't mind me asking, how much of a difference is there in the cost between the bifocals and distance-only lenses? Maybe I should reconsider this part of the equation.

I definitely agree with you on the wind issue; on those rare occasions that I get over 30 MPH, I want to enjoy it!

Don't mind you asking at all, but don't know the answer because I never seriously checked into the progressive lens. For bicycling and golf, I think I'll like just the distance lens better. There's not really time to move your head to adjust to the progressive lenses, as I've come to automatically do, when riding--one less distraction!

Wind is a bother to me even under 30. A good downhill and I'm wiping my eyes all the time (esp. when everything is blooming outside, as it is here now.)

just wanted to let you know that sport glasses do not have to be made using inserts (docking systems) to hold prescription lenses. Most optical shops have not learned the newer technology allowing prescription lenses to be mounted directly into wrap(8 base) sport frames. Most prescription sport glasses can be made for $200 to $300. In 1998 I created eyesport.com, being a cyclist, prescription eyeglass wearer, and optometrist I fiddled around trying to perfect a sport eyeglass that would allow me to see without fogging my prescription inserts. Well it finally caught on and eyeglasses wearers can get great fashion, light, and safe eyewear.

I am a big fan of https://www.heavyglare.com/. You basically chose whatever model you want, provide your prescription details, and finally select the type and tint (including transition) desired. I have a pair of RP frames with prescription lenses (not inserts). I also bought some goggles (with inserts) from these fellows as well. I have been pleased with their services and turn-around times.

Take care,
T
