This is probably obvious, but I'll say anyway that it gets a bit warmer behind the visor on the forehead with the Dux than an open face helmet. Cor that reason, it's my favorite spring/fall/winter helmet, but in the summer heat, I prefer the wind on my face for max evaporative cooling. Perhaps the Casco is different; dunno.

I guess if it's really your eyes that get hot though, it's probably not as hot as close fitting sports glasses.

FWIW, my go-to summer helmet the past season or two has been an Uvex Boss Race. It's pretty standard styling, but light, trim, cool, and nicely appointed with features like bug mesh, two-tone straps, easily adjustable fit system, and a nice chin buckle.

I temporarily lost my Bell Volt so I bought a Catlike Whisper. Then of course I found the Bell. Both fit well, are lightweight and brightly colored to improve my visibility.

It gets too hot here for me to wear those bmx-styled helmets. More vents means more air, keep that in mind when choosing a helmet.

That's mostly true, but I think that having airflow channels between the head and the helmet are important too, and make a noticeable difference in coolness between even apparently equally well shell-vented helmets.

Now there are those who claim that, for example, the Giro Air Attack is just as cool as a more vented helmet, which makes a case for airflow management being even supreme to shell venting. Seems hard to believe, but I don't know, it could be true!

I like the Giro Atmos. It has lots of vents which is what I need for cycling in Florida and it’s really light. You should be able to find one for about $150. I tried a Lazer Genesis and loved the way it looked but couldn’t get used to the heavier weight. That’s the problem with getting a really light helmet as your first one. Once you get used to that weight it’s hard to go heavier.

Yup...it does look great (imo)!

From Velonews....

Riders from Orica-GreenEdge wore the new Scott aero road helmet, which shares the same shell as the Vanish Evo, with a cover that is permanently attached at the factory, per the UCI ruling. We expect to see this helmet on the market very soon, if Scott intends to abide by the rule that products used in competition must be made available to the public in a timely manner after being unveiled in the pro peloton.

Interesting, thank you. I'll look forward to see what they bring forth, specifically whether it provides for venting at the front, under the leading edge of the helmet, or whether it's strictly an aero kludge suitable for cool weather or shorter rides.

I've got the Bell Sweep. Very comfortable and cool with the adjustable sizing wheel. Payed much less then the Amazon price.

Orbea Odin:

Robot Check

Great ventilation that will make you appear God-like.

Note that they run small.
