84 today, flat Bay to Bay on the Eastern Shore. My buddy and I had only the two man train to switch pulls, but I still managed a new 40k PR right at 20.0 mph. I'm going to attribute to the Colnago rather than my pal being the hyper-competitive sort.

Here's one I did when I had a hobby besides cycling... I called it "face-off on a flower"...

FINALLY.... I had a good climbing day up at Mt. Pinos. Climbed it twice with some friends, 35 mi/4300 ft. Bagged a QOM on a nice 7% section of the climb (which also put me #7 on the overall leaderboard, ie including men), lots of ladies top tens. I even rode the first 5 miles as a warm up and didn't try to rock it until I was 3.5 miles from the top. Beat my personal best by 8:26, which isn't saying much because every other trip I've had up the hill has been a trial.
But now I have some questions:
1. Yesterday when I was just wheeling my bike to put it away after the fitting, I noticed my pedals turning as I pushed the bike. Why are they doing that all of a sudden? Does something need lubing in the hub?
2. Today on the climb I heard a noise, wasnt sure what it was, when I got to the top of the hill I took a look and it was one of my rear brake pads rubbing on the rim. I couldn't figure out how to fix it, when my friends got to the top I asked the husband, he's a pretty knowledgable bike guy. He showed me how to fix it, in doing so, gave my rear wheel a spin and he said it has a wobble in it, needs to be trued. I could see what he was talking about once he showed me. Is it normal for this to happen on a new bike like this? How frequently does something like this happen? I don't really want to give my bike up to LBS this week, this is supposed to be a full training week for me, maybe 200 mi/15000 ft. Can it wait until the week after when I'm on a training break? I don't want to hurt the magic bike.
I also have a maddening squeak since getting the new post. I thought fitter had solved that yesterday (carbon paste) and its better but still present enough to make me a little crazy on those climbs. I'm not sure where to go next on that, but I'm not going to think about it for now because it's such an annoying thing. Tomorrow I will think about it.

The squeak/creak could very well be the saddle to seatpost mating surface. Proper torque and cleanliness helps there, and sometimes even a light coating of lube.
Truing wheels should be no big deal, providing the initial product was done well to begin with. For some reason, I have had crap luck with "builders", and decent luck with mass produced stuff. Other than my November Rails, which are bomb proof. We will see how bombproof they really are, as they seemed to take a healthy beating in my latest little excursion. I have a feeling your wheel just may need a touch up, and you'll be fine. As was mentioned, checking tension all around isn't a bad thing, and many so called pro's won't go there.

get it done well enough so you won't have to do it again........and again.......and again.
The ideal wheel (which does not exist) has all the spoke tensions on the respective sides
at exactly equal on that side, and maxed for the rim you are using, to reduce flexing from
dynamic loading and to encourage your wheel rim to stay both round and in one flat plane.
Machine built wheels (which is almost everything that comes on a bike bought new) usually
have some issues with the equal tension thing, and are rarely pulled up as tightly as they ought to be.
Additionally, the spoke elbows (unless you have straight pull spokes) have rarely been destressed. So shorter wheel life.
All of this probably seems like gibberish to you. For this I apologize, but you knew I was a Fred when you started talking to me here.

...truing it 'snot a big deal. I'm just giving you suggestions so that you might be able to
get it done well enough so you won't have to do it again........and again.......and again.

Nicely done on the climbing ride! Sounds like it was a good day.

Well, ten years have gone past and now is the time to put my olde n-Force 4 mobo and A64 3500+ out to pasture. Kind of a power hog but it'll probably be relegated to home theater PC use.
I thought for sure I'd end up going Intel this time but I think I'm gonna go AMD again.

Cleaned the bike and chain in Saturday went for a ride on Sunday and everything seem perfect. Two generation old Dura Ace seems great now. I have had it for about five years and it was never quite right until a bike shop in NJ worked on. The wheel had some improper spacer and a install a chain catcher.

Gorgeous flower pics. I will have to dig up some of Mrs. LAJ's stuff.
