Di2 Shifting problem

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Di2 Shifting problem

Just bought the bike, so will be heading over to the LBS in the morning. It was the owners bike that I bought off him "used". Was just curious if anyone out there can guess what the problem is before I go into the shop so I can help him troubleshoot. The front derailleur is working fine. The rear is the problem... It is double shifting or maybe slipping between gears when Im shifting. The battery meter on the bike is showing red even though I have charged it for 4-6 hours when I brought the bike home. Could it be the battery that would cause it to delay shifting and when it does shift its shifting between two gears... Any guesses out there?

If I'm not mistaken the red light is on when the control box is in adjust mode. When you press the shift lever, you are misadjusting the derailleur, not shifting it. For the shifters to work properly, you have to hold the button on the control box down until the red light goes off. After readjusting the derailleur to its proper position, of course. Go into the shop for a tutorial. Low battery does not show by a red light.

Sorry... didn't mean the light was on while I was shifting, although that may be part of the problem, as I may have inadvertently had it on at first before I realized it wasn't off and therefore misadjusted the Derailleur out of sink.

Thanks guys... Read the manual (who does that, beforehand) and Im pretty sure your right. Ill go in tomorrow morning for a quick adjustment and get laughed at by the guys in the shop. New to the D12's and was actually not really interested when I started looking but it hasn't taken me long to fall in love with them.

Here are a couple of Youtube videos to help with your RD adjustment. After getting it right you'll hardly ever need to mess with it again...

Thanks everyone! I avoided the embarrassment of bringing the bike back over the the shop ad adjusted myself. Went for a quick 10 miles just to test it out and is shifting beautifully again. Man I love the Di2s!

As the battery loses power, the amount of remaining charge will be shown by holding down one of the shift levers for a few seconds and the indicator light will illuminate. A full battery charge will show a green light for 2 seconds. A 50% battery charge will flash green five times. A 25% battery charge will illuminate red for only 2 seconds. A battery with effectively 0% charge will flash red five times. If there is no charge in the battery, the derailleurs will stay in the last gear they were shifted to.

I wouldn't worry about getting harassed at the bike shop. You should be the one giving the bike shop owner crap for selling you a misadjusted bike.

I was totally kidding. I have a great relationship with the owner of the LBS... In fact, the bike was his bike that he let me borrow for a charity ride and I liked so much I bought it off of him. He's been trying to get me to buy a new bike all summer... I should have known he was up to something, I think it was his plan all along. Win/Win for him, he sells me a bike and he gets to buy a new one. I spent a good deal more than I planned but I got a bike that otherwise wouldn't have been a dream of getting otherwise.

Do your thumb and fingers shift as well as they type "working"?

As for Surgeon, Don't be an A-hole... This isn't a thread to discuss the merits of Di2 vs mechanicals. I am new to road biking and was able to get a $7-8k bike for less than 1/2 of that. I don't care about Di2/mechanical I do this to try and get a little healthier and get my diabetes under a little better control. So I really don't give a ____ about your bike or opinion of Di2.
