Yup, ride quality and strength are the factors at work in that CS. The "C" (competition) is evident by one lift of the bike (if not laden with accessories). That C isnt cro-mo.

The Golden Boy excellent, thank you. Club Sport was good tubing for more recreational riders and stronger for touring/commuting. Re: heavier. :)

ETA: the True Temper1 frame on the 460 entry level...

Only the 760/770 had the full 531c frame for '86. If so, there would be a 531 sticker on the fork. Here is a pic of my 760 with "trident" fork crown.
