The Skewers on my PW hubs are 70's vintage Campagnolo.
Correct about some skewers not having the same cam action as the Campagnolos. The skewers that came with 80's Mavic hubs feel really weird....

I had that slight play on my 1st gen PW front hub too.... Just tightened the skewer a little tighter than I normally have skewers on my bikes (tight, but not crazy tight) and and the play is now...
