yes front strut has an oval plate reinforcing the mudguard, strut-arch passes between them its under the mudguard
Factory stock, its riveted together.. A poprivet will do the same, after market....

NB setting it down too hard.. causes the tubes that hold the 2 rear portion.. front rollers, to bend more .. (a bad thing)

true the rack it self is a mudguard support .. So mudguard has different holes in it,..
the L has 2 struts to support the 1 little wheel on the mudguard to let it roll in the under fold.

My L has 3 pair of struts , you get all 3 of them? (X-version, I read, they used Ti wire for the struts (vs stainless) )
