The answer to ones max heart rate can be found many ways. Doing it on a bike should produce good results but I wonder if finding my MHR climbing hills till I puke or see stars at 76 is a good idea....

Why does Strave refuse to setup more age groups?

Our only workaround on Strava is to form clubs that are age based and that gives us some idea of how we are doing. But my short membership in a 70+ group leads me to believe I am in very bad shape...

I don't think so, if current Strava Specialized spring challenge world wide numbers are right. Out of 52,470 total riders only 131 are 65 or over. VERY small percentage!
