and black is neutral so your black components will go with the orange tape too...

i ended up going with the black ones because of the colors i use for bar tape - i couldn't see bright orange, yellow, or lime green going well with brown/gum hoods.

only downside it's not deep enough to fit over the cone nuts on the axle.

Yeah it comes from the rear - that's why I was specific when saying I hear it when my rear wheel drops (like when the sidewalk has buckled and there's a big drop). I don't know to describe the sound....
